Circular Libraries are community spaces that promote sustainability by providing access to tools, equipment, and other resources that can be borrowed and shared. In Reykjavik, there are currently three Circular Libraries in addition to the Reykjavik Tool Library.
During the first three months of our pilot project in Reykjavik, we borrowed out 16 items to our growing community of 463 members. These members saved a total of 203 times, or €10,050, by borrowing instead of buying. By borrowing, we also saved 1.2 T/CO2, helping to reduce our environmental impact.
But the benefits of the pilot project go beyond these KPIs. Our community of members has come together for Repair Cafes, maker workshops, concerts, skill-sharing events, and more. The pilot project has helped to build connections between community members and raise awareness about sustainability and environmental issues.
If you're interested in joining our growing community and promoting sustainability in Reykjavik, we encourage you to check out one of our Circular Libraries or the Reykjavik Tool Library. We look forward to seeing you there!
